Set Politics Aside

While the two-party political system has its problems, I believe it to be better than that of our friends in Europe who now have multi-party systems that are built upon coalitions that come and go. I think the two-party system should have more stability.

With that past decade fraught with partisanship, I am having my second thoughts. It doesn't seem that politicians are willing to compromise as gentle people any longer. Now it seems as though it is US versus THEM and the party doctrine is the line and nothing else matters. I even see that today with the Tea Party legislators that seem unwilling to budge on their fixed thinking.

Legislators need to come together to solve our problems, not be split along party lines.

It's as simple as that.

Family is Great

When you are rearing your children, there are those wonder times of laughter and joy. The first of this or that, the cute crawl or wave, or coming home excited about some activity as they grow older.

There are those challenging times when as a parent you have to be the adult and say "no" or you just think differently that your child(ren). Your references are different. At times there is tension and frustration on everyone's part.

Then comes the time when they become adults and move on with their lives. You get to see the happiness and sadness as they encounter life. You hurt for them but know that you have provided them with the proper tools to work out the wrinkles of life.

While you always remain a parent, your references begin to become more similar and your relationships with you children changes. It is a really wonderful.

Family is great.

It is as simple as that.

Work Keeps You Busy

While getting up for work at 5:27 a.m., my thought was on what lay ahead of me this work day and evening. There are things that need and will be done prior to my laying my head on the pillow tonight. This keeps a person engaged in life. What if I didn't have to go to work, what would I accomplish today?

In my opinion you need to accomplish at least one thing each day that contributes toward your health, mental well being and/or you community.

It is as simple as that.

Fishing

Fishing was at one time a reasonably simple sport. Cane pole, line and a hook with some bait did the trick.

Now it is far more complicated. I think that the complication is in part a result of the commercialization of the sport. You have to buy this or that. Fish finder on the boat is needed. Electric trolling motor is an essential addition to a smaller fishing boat with a 25 hp. motor.

I used all of my equipment this morning and left without taking any keepers home.

It's as simple as that.
